Start the Peace
Since we can’t stop the violence, let’s start the peace.
KyJuan and Murphy Lee are creating a series of filmed episodes designed to educate, inspire and create opportunities in our community.
Who has their back?
Everybody sees the person on the screen.
The actor. The artist. The star. But every production also needs camera operators, lighting technicians, sound engineers, writers, directors, producers, editors, wardrobe, makeup, set designers, production assistants and many more people working behind the scenes.
If everybody wants to be in front of the camera, who’s going to make the production happen?
Entertainment is bigger than becoming famous. These are real careers, real skills and real jobs.
Opportunity reveals ability.
The place where they find out.
When does a young person know they can act if they’ve never been given the chance to act? When do they know they can direct if they’ve never directed?
When do they discover they have an eye for a camera, an ear for sound, a gift for writing or the ability to produce?
We want Start the Peace to be the place where they find out.
Stories that matter
Put the decisions on screen.
Our episodes will tell stories about decision-making and consequences in our communities. One decision can change a life.
- Who you ride with.
- What you say yes to.
- What you say no to.
- How you respond when you’re angry.
- Whether you follow the crowd.
- Whether you think for yourself.
Instead of simply telling young people what not to do, we’re going to put those decisions on screen and create conversations around them.
We need your help to start the peace
Bring your time, talent, resources and support.
We’re asking artists, filmmakers, businesses, organizations, educators, community leaders and everyday people to help create the films, train the crews, give young people their first opportunity and tell stories that could change a life-changing decision.
